10 Hidden California Beach Towns You Can Still Afford in 2026

California’s coastline is over eight hundred miles long. Most of it costs a million dollars or more to live on. But not all of it. There are still beach towns in this state where homes are in the three hundreds, rents are under fifteen hundred, and you can hear the waves without being a millionaire.
In this video we go town by town from the Oregon border to the Mexican border, covering the real home prices, rent costs, what the town actually feels like on the ground, and whether the affordability comes with trade offs you need to know about. Some of these towns are rainy and remote. Some are sunny and warm. All of them prove that the California beach dream isn’t dead. It just moved.
Whether you’re a retiree looking for coastal living on a budget, a remote worker who wants to wake up near the ocean, or someone who’s always assumed California beaches were out of reach, this video has the data and the honest takes you need.

I’ve lived in California since 1970. I love California. THERE IS NO PLACE IN CALIFORNIA where you would want to live that is not beyond the means of most people. It’s expensive here. Period.

Your video’s title is misleading; it should say less expensive, not affordable. Some of these prices are not reachable for the average American. Your indices are subjective and mismatched.
